How transmit with IP-Cam or Webcam in Streaming on the Internet. 

Let me explain, the more briefly and easily as possible, as it is structured, as is born and what were the technical difficulties encountered in implementing our project.

At beginning we started with a simple idea, to transmit live the life of domestic animals on camera, for the rest we had nothing, no technical knowledge or experience on transmission of images, in live streaming, on internet.

Starting a little asking around, initially, we were a bit frightened, it seemed that need so what facilities and capital to be committed, reordering, however, a little idea in the end it is not then been so `complicated or expensive.

What you need: first, of course, a web space, large companies have servers (computers with more large capacity) of their property, which manage at home and with a data bandwidth assigned by Telecom company, in practice when you type their address on the Internet you go to connect directly with their computer.

We do not need, for now (we do not limit to Providence), it is possible to buy a web space from many providers that are there in your country, our is on XXXXX, here at a cost basis of around 20-30 euro-dollars / year is the bare minimum, depends on whether you want to enable other services.

So far we are still easy. How to send images to a specific page on the Internet?  Let us say immediately that this is possible thanks to broadband ADSL, without this a normal modem connection at 56k it would not be able to send but also receive the amount of data required.

First you need to buy cameras that have not to be analog, but IP-Cam, where IP stands for Internet Protocol, are of all prices, say from 100 euro/dollars upwards.

The cameras must have its own IP-Address, that for instance made up of four groups of digits, for example if you have a modem rooter usually has this (such as internal address) 192.168.1.1. The IP-Address must be purchased by institutions involved, the same internet provider are dealers, we will see, however, that we can do without this expenditure through a subterfuge.

Third, it is capable of handling dynamic DNS addresses, we need to do without fixed IP-Address.

What we are going to achieve then is a small home network where to put the rooter to the center, which is connected to the Internet and to which it assigned its own IP address, eg 192.168.1.1, linked to ours, or more cameras addressed, for example, 192.168.1.2 and one or more computer which assign for example, IP 192.168.1.3.

Better make a statement, in the internal networks or household can use and assign IP addresses that we want, if we want to achieve that instead directly address the external address must be unique and assigned by the authorities.

At a time when dialogue with an external machine it is done via its IP Address. Even our computer when you connect to the Internet has an IP-Address assigned but type Dynamic, ie that can change every time we connect.

What does mean that Telecom company  has, for example, 1 million IP available but manages, for example, 2 million users who are not all linked together, when we connect, then we assign the IP addresses available at that time.

This is for our purposes is bad because in our website page that we will realize we will have to put between the various parameters the IP to connect to see images and if they change from day to day will understand that it is not manageable .

We need a fixed IP-Address.

Avoiding the IP-Address fixed fee:

That may make some providers by specializing in transforming the dynamic IP addresses from a fixed, the best known and we have used us, is DYN-DNS, simply open an account with them and entering the necessary information, set this service. In this way we will be recognized on the network no more with a number but with an acronym, we decided, for example sitename.dynalias.com

We said that our rooter must be able to manage the Dynamic-DNS service, it is in this section we are going to set the data provided by the service of Dyn-Dns as username, psw and acronym.

Among the various parameters in the networks, we can also manage the web ports (the ones that are usually set to the value 8080), then go to edit and assign a port in the parameters of the webcam, for example 8081,2,3 and so on . All doors must also be assigned "open" on the rooter to the special section otherwise would not be able to converse with the outside.

We have therefore now rooter connected to the Internet with a fixed IP address, the webcam are connected to the rooter with their Web leads, and then if we connect with one of the Ip-Cam we should have an address like this: http://mysite.dynalias.com : 8081

Usually the cameras transmit images through what we might call a 'protocol', most make the choice between "Java" and "ActiveX", the most used and reliable is Java, which is also used by us. This presupposes that the end user on the Internet has Java installed on your computer, or so as the ActiveX plugin.

When you  make the web page we have to insert in the code a tab <td>, <p> or whatever you want depending on the programming language, with some inside commands in Java code that is usually provided by the manufacturer of cameras, but to which we must inevitably make their adjustments and that also will contain the address http://mysite.dynalias.com:8081.

Now here is that you have your nice channel in "Streaming" on the internet where you can transmit that's like. If desired, some IP-Cam also have a microphone, thus opening up another port to be allocated for this purpose can also have the audio at your disposal.

If desired, all IP-Cam / Webcam / Cameras have the option to send via an alternative method that is called FTP (File Transfer Protocol), however, of sending static images, such as a single frame every 30 seconds. In this case should be left unchanged the structure . The images, usually JPG, however, will be transferred separately on the server of our provider and every tot seconds will be updated. On our website we will then simply upload this picture that will be fixed as long as the user will not do a refresh of the same. Imagine yourselves the limits of that method.
